Maximum Attachment Size in Emails

There are restrictions on the size of attachments in emails, which are determined by the limitations of incoming mail servers. At MovaWorks, the maximum size of an email attachment you can receive is set at 20 MB.

Here are some examples of maximum attachment sizes for other service providers:

• Outlook.com and Hotmail.com – 10 MB (free service)
• Office 365 – 25 MB
• Gmail – 25 MB
• Yahoo – 25 MB

In addition to incoming mail servers, some email clients also impose their own file size restrictions. Below are a few examples of such limitations:

• Outlook (2010 and 2013) – 20 MB
• Windows Live Mail – 50 MB
• Apple Mail – 25 MB

What to Do with Larger Files?

There are online services available that allow you to send larger files. Some examples include WeTransfer and Dropbox.
